TKD Study is the first all-round learning companion designed specifically for ITF Taekwon-Do students. It combines theory study, pattern learning, Korean terminology, quizzes, progress tracking, competitions and community features into one platform.
The goal of TKD Study is to make Taekwon-Do education more accessible, interactive and enjoyable. Instead of only reading information, students can challenge their knowledge, track improvement and build confidence in their understanding of Taekwon-Do.
Developed by Cyo Labs, TKD Study combines traditional martial arts education with modern technology to support students, instructors and schools worldwide.
TKD Study began in 2024 as a personal project while learning programming and app development.
The original goal was simply to develop software skills, but after an early attempt was encouraged by instructors, the project continued and evolved into something designed to help the wider Taekwon-Do community.
While studying Taekwon-Do, it became clear that accessing reliable information could be difficult. Students often rely on physical handbooks, notes and books, which can contain mistakes or be difficult to revise from.
TKD Study was created to turn learning into an interactive challenge. The app was built for students who enjoy understanding the technical details of Taekwon-Do and want a more engaging way to study.
Since its first release, TKD Study has expanded from Android into a worldwide platform available on Android, Web and iOS, with Spanish language support.
Bring important ITF Taekwon-Do information together into one structured, easy-to-access platform.
Replace passive reading with quizzes, challenges, progress tracking and knowledge testing.
Built for students who enjoy the deeper technical and theoretical aspects of ITF Taekwon-Do.
TKD Study started as a small personal project in 2024 while learning programming and app development. The original goal was simply to improve software skills, but the project continued growing after encouragement from instructors and the Taekwon-Do community.
The earliest version was extremely simple compared to today's platform. It began as basic text displayed on a page, without quizzes, black belt content, sources, step sparring, competitions or many of the features available today.
Over time, TKD Study evolved into a complete learning platform covering the technical, theoretical and competitive sides of ITF Taekwon-Do.
There was no single moment where TKD Study changed, but one experience showed how far it had come. A senior Taekwon-Do instructor who had never met Liam before recognised TKD Study and approached him to discuss it. Seeing the project known and appreciated beyond his own club was a reminder that it had become something much bigger than a personal coding project.
TKD Study is created by someone actively involved in the Taekwon-Do community, not simply as a software project but as a tool designed from personal experience.
Liam trains with Legacy Taekwon-Do Drogheda and works closely within the Irish National Taekwon-Do Association community. He regularly attends INTA events and ITF online events, where feedback and conversations with practitioners continue to influence the development of TKD Study.
TKD Study has been used informally by students and clubs preparing for training and grading, including students from Legacy Taekwon-Do Drogheda, other schools across Ireland and across the world.
Through Taekwon-Do competition, Liam has achieved 9 national and international medals alongside other awards. He has also represented TKD Study while receiving an award from the President of Ireland and won gold representing the TU Dublin university team shortly after joining.
TKD Study aims to become the global standard learning platform for ITF Taekwon-Do students.
Like language learning platforms make studying languages interactive, TKD Study brings that same approach to martial arts education. Students can learn theory, test knowledge, build streaks, compete on leaderboards and challenge other practitioners worldwide.
The difference is that TKD Study combines interactive learning with the depth and technical detail required for Taekwon-Do. It is designed for beginners learning their first techniques, black belts refining their knowledge, and instructors supporting their students.
The future vision for TKD Study includes deeper grading preparation, improved progression systems and tools to support Taekwon-Do clubs and instructors.
